The inspiration behind the founding of A Story All My Own is Kaiser “Kai” Jameson Freitas. Born on August 7, 2003, little Kai brought a world of change to his mom, Jennifer, his dad, Cesar, and his Aunt Keyla. One of his very first gifts from his Aunt Keyla was a personalized children’s book that depicted his arrival into this world. It is a treasured keepsake that allows that special day and all the people who participated in it to stay fresh in our minds. It is also cherished by little Kai who loves to hear his own name in a story that is all his own, hence, the name of the company.

After seeing how much Kai loved his new book, they wanted to find a way to bring these books to other children and families. Jennifer, who had a similar book as a child, knew how much she had enjoyed reading her very own book. She also wanted to find a way to bring in an income while staying home with her son and completing her Master’s thesis. Keyla, on the other hand, had recently completed her degree in Multimedia and Web Design, which led to the decision to create a web-based company with which to sell these special books. With a job change already looming in her future, Keyla began work on the website in the spring of 2004. The fruit of her labors is what you see here today.
