{child's
first name} {child's middle name} {child's last name} was
peacefully reclining in {his/her} bed, browsing through {his/her}
newest fishing catalog and thinking about the annual fishing
contest at {name of lake or fishing location}. "I sure
wish I could enter," {child’s name or nickname}
said to {himself/herself} as {he/she} flipped through the
pages.
{child’s
name or nickname} turned the page and saw Bobber Bear in the
catalog. "Boy, I wish I could be a fishing bear like
Bobber Bear. I would be able to fish anytime I wanted,"
thought {child’s name or nickname} as {he/she} gently
nodded off to sleep.
{child’s
name or nickname} began to dream. In {his/her} dream, {he/she}
was magically transformed into Bobber Bear. What was even
moreamazing was the fact that {name of fishing partner} was
also transformed into another fishing bear.
{name
of fishing partner} told {child’s name or nickname}
to get {his/her} fishing rod because they were going to enter
the fishing rodeo! {child’s name or nickname} was very
excited as they began packing for their fishing trip. Along
with sandwiches and fruit, they packed plenty of water to
drink. {name of fishing partner} brought a tent.
They
decided to go to the Bass Pro shop to get sinkers, flies,
hooks, floats and anything else they might need for the fishing
contest. {name of fishing partner} also looked at the new
boats, outdoor gear and other fishing equipment.
{child’s
name or nickname} was fascinated by the colossal 30,000 gallon
saltwater aquarium they found stocked full of trophy-size
fish of many types. There was even a real person in the tank
hand-feeding the fish!
At
the fish camp, {child’s name or nickname} and {name
of fishing partner} set up the tent for the night. With the
boat in the water, they took their places and {name of fishing
partner} started the motor! "Look out, fish, here we
come!" yelled {child’s name or nickname} and {name
of fishing partner} at the same time.
First
they cruised up the river so {name of fishing partner} could
find just the right fishing spot. {child’s name or nickname}
was starting to get impatient when {name of fishing partner}
said, "This is the place!" Immediately, {child’s
name or nickname} began looking for fish. {he/she} wished
{names of friends} could be here with {him/her}.
{child’s
name or nickname} watched {name of fishing partner} get one
fishing pole ready. Next {name of fishing partner} grabbed
a spinner. Then {name of fishing partner} helped {child’s
name or nickname} get {his/her} very own fishing rod ready.
{child’s name or nickname} was going to try a plastic
worm fist.
{child’s
name or nickname} had trouble throwing out {his/her} fishing
line. Several times it caught nothing other than branches
of some nearby trees. Finally, {he/she} learned how to cast
{his/her} artificial bait to the right spot.
The
first time {child’s name or nickname} reeled in {his/her}
line slowly. {he/she} was very disappointed that the fish
were not biting. After three more casts, {child’s name
or nickname} began to understand that you do not catch fish
every single time you throw out your line. Soon {child’s
name or nickname} was catching quite a few fish, but none
of them were big enough to win a trophy!
With
the noon sun directly overhead, {name of fishing partner}
declared that it must be lunchtime. {child’s name or
nickname} was too excited to stop fishing. {name of fishing
partner} reeled in the line, but {child’s name or nickname}
left {his/her} line out and set {his/her} rod by {his/her}
seat.
While
{he/she} was eating lunch, {child’s name or nickname}
heard a noise next to {him/her}. There was a quick jerk and
{his/her} pole almost fell into the water. {child’s
name or nickname} quickly grabbed the pole, but the fish that
{child’s name or nickname} hooked was so-o-o big that
it began pulling the boat!
The
sandwiches flew overboard as {child’s name or nickname},
{name of fishing partner}, the boat, and the fish headed down
the river through the rapids. {name of fishing partner} looked
so funny trying to keep one hand on the boat and the other
on the hat. {child’s name or nickname} would have chuckled,
if {he/she} had not been afraid of losing {his/her} fish.
As
the boat raced toward {name of lake/fishing location}, the
other fishing contestants could not get out of the way fast
enough. Fishing poles were snapping, lines were breaking and
{names of friends} and {his/her} other friends were cheering
from the banks. {child’s name or nickname} was ready
to land the fish and try to win the trophy!
The
fish was the biggest ever caught in {name of lake/fishing
location}. The loudspeaker hailed, "The winner of this
year's fishing contest is {child's first name} {child's middle
name} {child's last name}...{child’s name or nickname},
{child’s name or nickname}! Wake up!" said {name
of fishing partner} while shaking {child’s name or nickname}
out of {his/her} dream. "I just entered us in the big
fishing contest. Let's go now or we will be late!" {child’s
name or nickname} grinned from ear to ear. Maybe {his/her}
dream would come true after all!
